Cabled Llama

When my daughter was in college, I knit her a beautiful cabled sweater out of llama.  She was distraught when it stretched over time.  I showed the sweater as well as a leftover skein to Judith McKenzie who told me the knitting and gauge were perfect (thank you, Judith!), and thought the yarn was not spun tightly enough.

It is now Thor’s sweater.   Every time he wears it my eyes are drawn to where the cable pattern shifts.  You see, I got a little creative with some of the cable work.  Translation: I started out following a complicated pattern but foolishly took it with me to knit while I sat with my dad during his last days.  At some point I stopped looking at the pattern and ended up following my own cable patterning ideas.

While one could view it as a making a mistake, I prefer to think of it as creative adaptation!
