Back to Yarns

I’m going back to my yarns … tomorrow definitely will be my last day canning for a while.  While it is time consuming and laborious, I have always said canning isn’t hard.  So today I wondered why it seemed so hard.  As a child, my mother set up an assembly line around the picnic table in the back yard.  Our fruit trees produced a lot, and canning was a summer and fall group event.  But for the last couple of days, canning has been a solo event.  The grandkids are too young to handle knives, and the kitchen is a dangerous place right now — lots of simmering pots of fruit and jars. So as far as I’m concerned, while I will gift some preserves to a few select friends, Thor and I are definitely set in the jam and preserves department for quite some time!
