Televised Competitive Knitting

Thanks to Pearlstoronto for bringing this to my attention! Norwegian TV station is airing five continuous hours of competitive “Sheep to Sweater” knitting!

I have witnessed “Sheep to Shawl” competitions, but not “Sheep to Sweater.” What a fun event to be involved in!

(For those who might scoff at such an idea, may I remind you of other tv coverages that might seem boring to others: golf, swimming, ice hurling and barn raising come to mind!)

  2. I’ve been wondering when something like this would be televised. I keep thinking of a Project Runway kind of thing for knitters!

I’ve been suggesting to the Beeb that they need to do the same thing. After all knitting is more interesting that reality tv.

  13. Yes, a lot of Norwegian knitters are looking forward to following the program. NRK, the State television channel have clips from their previous slow television shows on their website, like the Hurtigruten ferry along the coast, see: http://www.nrk.no/hurtigruten/?lang=en

I’m hoping there’s a way to watch this online! It’ll be a toss up between 5 hours of knit-along yarn and the world’s biggest bowl of popcorn 🙂
